Day 88.

Today I had a stomach virus, I am slightly more over it now, I took this photo, it is not very good, but I was dying for most of today.

This is my sister, not me, I was considering me, but I was too ill when it would have made a point to be bothered, that sofa is where I lived today. I am now a day behind on work I should have been doing, but I did watch Hotel Rwanda, which has some loose relevance to what I'm looking at... maybe, the Congo and Liberia are both countries in Africa.

Day 87.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Feeling pretty awesome after a swim at my sister's swanky gym, spotted this little guy on the way home, which is a bit odd, as I don't think there's a pond anywhere around.
Completed my 2,000 word practical proposal, so am rewarding myself with more Pokemon.

Day 86.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Thought I'd Photobooth myself, because nothing else was accomplished today, despite the fact that I thought I'd get my Practical Proposal out of the way today. I think I'll do it tomorrow because I won't have my sister at home 'being ill' to distract me. I think I'll even try and get up early tomorrow too.

Day 85.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I am back in New Malden, funny how I've only realised from doing this project that I haven't been home since Christmas, that's strange, this school year is definitely going by too quickly. Urgh, I have so much to do in the next two weeks.

Day 84.

I didn't think I would get addicted to this (again), guess what I spent basically all of today doing?
My work I have to do over Easter might suffer...

Day 83.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Today has been knackering, after 5 hours sleep, I should have thought about going to bed earlier considering I had to walk Lucy to the bus station for 10, but I was a bit annoyed last night and wanted to stay up and gossip, I still had a good time though.
It was so nice having Lucy to stay, and I hope we can do more of it soon.
I really liked how sunny it was when I was walking home after dropping Lucy off, it's the first day that I've noticed daffodils coming through. I can't wait for the weather to stop being so temperamental, it seems to be half storm, half sunny at the moment, it's very hard to choose whether to wear a coat or not.

Day 82.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Lucy is here. I haven't seen her since July last year and before then it was even longer.
Old friends are great, I think she is back to her normal self and that she's happy.
We went to the Historic Dockyard to celebrate her visit, and did all the paid activities, apart from the Naval Museum but the ticket's valid for a year anyway.
I liked the Warrior best. It's a pretty decent day out, and I'm not even really interested in that kind of thing anymore but, if you'd asked '11 year-old me' where a great place to go would be I'd say, 'to see the Mary Rose', which we didn't even see anyway because it's new museum is all under construction until 2012.
I wish she was staying a bit longer, but I'm looking forward to Moon's quiz later, particularly after all the history I absorbed today.

Day 81.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Today I was treated to a date.
I did a pretty decent workout at the gym, and now my legs hurt.
Then I finally got to see Shutter Island, which is brilliant and has motivated me to finally watch Blood Diamond, it relates to my dissertation (loosely).
AND THEN, I went to Giraffe and had this tasty dish.
What a nice day, I even woke up early, now I am basically tuckered out, so I'll be viewing Blood Diamond from my bed, in pyjamas.

Day 80.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I woke up late and spent a lot of the day cleaning the kitchen. Moon cleaned the lounge, the house looks very nice.
I have been looking forward to making cauliflower cheese for days, Moon bought 3 packets of cheese mix, despite how tasty it is, the idea makes me feel a bit sick - powdered cheese, nom.

Day 79.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Most of what I accomplished today occurred before 1pm, then I came home at 2 and was quite lazy.
I haven't been out dancing in ages, which saddens me.

Nom nom. Made by Andrew Moon.

Day 77.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I did a lot more work today than I thought I would, I think Mad Men increases productivity.

Friday, 19 March 2010

Day 76.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

This collection of images is going to come off as mad, I've now promised myself not to look at the whole thing until I am finished.
There were some things to sort out to do with the house next year, both scary and annoying.
I haven't done much today. My tutorial was cancelled.

Day 75.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I am happy with my shoot, this photo definitely won't make it into anything final but it's so funny.
I feel a bit more confident using the studio, I still might need a bit of help but at the moment, I'm pleased with what I got out of today anyway.
L-R: Andy, Moon, Sam, Chris and Sam.
Can you tell they're not professionals?

Wednesday, 17 March 2010

Day 74.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I went to see I Love You Philip Morris tonight, I had wanted to see Shutter Island, but being an Orange Wednesday, I think, it was completely fully booked, so I settled for second best. It was actually really good, and nice, once you get over Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor kissing. Due to a need to kill time, Moon and I invested £5 in Vue's ITBox, I don't think it was that wise, but it killed a bit of time. I hope I get to see Shutter Island soon.
Tomorrow I am doing my 'big' photoshoot, I hope it goes well...

Tuesday, 16 March 2010

Day 73.

© Ruth Johnston 2010

Today is such a beautiful day, I was quite surprised to see this nice patch of crocuses.
Despite feeling rubbish, I've been walking all over the city, it's made me feel a lot better, I hope the weather stays like this, it's much better than rainy grog.

Monday, 15 March 2010

Day 72.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Some humour to finish off what has been a pretty delightful and 'springy' day.
In Asda, they've lined up all the Lindt rabbits along the checkouts, I guess to get everyone in the mood for Easter (buy things they don't need), a lot of them are deformed, I guess mean and bad tempered kids have been getting at them.

Day 71.

© Ruth Johnston 2010

Oh, hello, work I was meant to do today but got constantly distracted from, again.
I am sorry but there has to be someone worse off than me at the moment... right?

Day 70.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I spent most of yesterday afternoon making a plastic bag dress for Abbie's birthday party, I think I over-thought it, everyone who came dressed up was in normal binbags, I fused mine together and made a solid, tube. I also made my room and house smell like burnt plastic, the 'dress' still stank when I got it out at the end of the party to show my terrible effort.
I completely over-estimated my size as well, had I worn it, I would have looked so, so, so ridiculous.

Friday, 12 March 2010

Day 69.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I wasn't really able to take photographs today, as I spent the majority of it either being moody or doing work.
My lecture today was boring as hell, I drew a koala in a bow tie and got away with take a photograph of it. I apologise that it's on my Blackberry but it was the only discrete camera I had on me.

Thursday, 11 March 2010

Day 68.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Since I will get most of my practical work done in one go, next week, I feel as though most of the days are merging into one. I only realised the time before I remembered I had this to do.
This is a pretty accurate depiction of what I have spent the majority of today doing, Cosmopolitan has almost convinced me that that is the magazine I'll be shooting for, I'm hoping the other magazines I've yet to look at will be a bit cleaner though as Cosmo is too colourful and loud, they do have some interesting articles about men though.

Day 67.

© Ruth Johnston 2010, taken by Dan Long.

Yolko Ono & John Lemon.
This is a week for dressing up, I should actually get doing some work... I have this afternoon and tomorrow, I guess, but I have to break this up by returning a dumb tripod, which I will get fined for.
These costumes were for a friends party last night, the theme was 'Music Legends', I wish more people had made an effort...
I felt quite awesome anyway, and my £2 shoes sustained themselves, even though my feet were hurting from a different, more expensive pair, thank you Primark.

Wednesday, 10 March 2010

Day 66.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

These shoes were £2, I bought two pairs, these, and a white pair for tomorrow. They are reasonably ok and I have no blisters on my feet, I feel there is some sort of moral dilemma trying to rear it's ugly head, I spent less on both pairs of shoes than I did on the magazines I bought today.
Sorry sweatshop workers.
Both pairs of shoes weren't much less than my cinema ticket for Alice in Wonderland either, it was much better than the shoes though. I like Johnny Depp.

Day 65.

© Ruth Johnston 2010

From my first proper test shoot to actually getting somewhere, I can do nothing until next Thursday, but with the few volunteers I have, I should be able to get everything done in a couple of shoots - professionals would do it in one, but a professional, I am not.
Today was quite stressful but I have a rough initial interview with Andy and proper idea now. I have to buy a million magazines tomorrow and pay that bill - which may be hundreds but it is a couple hundred less than Simon and Long's.
This was taken with my SB-600 on a tripod, it did a better job than I thought but not as great a job as I'd have liked.
Andy is wearing Moon's t-shirt.
I have 300 days left of this project, this year is going too fast already.

Sunday, 7 March 2010

Day 64.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

The oven has been very useful today, I made this and these.
I am a mighty fine chef. ♥
Our kitchen floor has a lot of crumbs on it...

Saturday, 6 March 2010

Day 63.

© Ruth Johnston 2010

Today I put £500 into my account to pay bills and currently have watched up to 21 Up of the Up Series. Moon just made curry and I feel full, also, I generally feel very moody today. I am really enjoying back-to-back documentaries though.

Friday, 5 March 2010

Day 62.

© Ruth Johnston 2010

Some days, the mind really does boggle as to why there is much point in attending certain sessions at University. I did watch part of 49UP in another session though, I think I will try and school up on it to argue my case for why we should present a seminar about it. I also had a bird poo on my head on my walk home for lunch, luckily I had enough time to wash my hair before going back in, I reckon it was karma trying to tell me to be a better person.

Thursday, 4 March 2010

Day 61.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Moon has felt awful all day and has got into bed without me, it makes me sad, because it serves him right.
I have basically felt fine all day, but knackered, I think I should begin to think about work some time soon.

Day 60.

© Ruth Johnston 2010

Moon had his birthday party last night, it was pretty crowded in our house beforehand but it was a lovely atmosphere. We then went on to Waster, I've not had a proper look at those photos yet. For people that were so well-dressed, we ended up being pretty disgraceful, I'll put some photos on Facebook and on my other blog later.

Tuesday, 2 March 2010

Day 59.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Today was Moon's actual birthday, I got him retro 'Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots' as one of his gifts, we didn't do much else, but I am so psyched for tomorrow.

Monday, 1 March 2010

Day 58.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

After spending the majority of this afternoon being phenomenally pissed off, I seemed to have turned tonight into a psyching up session. I have compiled a jazzy playlist for Moon's birthday party, and have tried on my new costume. Today Moon and I tried on our John Lennon and Yoko Ono glasses together, for another dressing up party next week. For now though, I am full to the brim with excitement over Moon's party, I love my costume, I'm thinking about wearing it daily, even the wig, despite the fact that it's too itchy to actually wear out - meaning I now have to find something else to do with my hair.
