Day 315.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I've finally finished the first chapter of my dissertation - thought I'd show off how thick the peanut butter cheescake was, it will probably all be finished by tomorrow because everyone loves it I've got to let my sister try some when she comes down.
I'm going out tonight for what feels like the first time in ages, at least I've earned it - based on today anyway

Day 312.

I've rearranged my room, I felt like I was being productive, but I really wasn't. I have cleaned the whole house in order to be prepared for my Uncle David's visit on Saturday but, I did minimal work, unless literally skimming a book counts...

Day 245.

Today I was in the mood for trying out new recipes.
I made an awesome chilli marinade that goes all gooey when it heats up, some rocky road and this mango and watercress salsa which went amazing with some chicken in the chilli marinade. I'm so proud of myself, I have to go buy a jar for this tomorrow so it keeps well, there's too much of it to keep eating everyday it's going to last ages.

Ingredients;
60g of finely shredded spinach
60g of watercress
2 spring onions (finely chopped)
½ medium onion (finely chopped)
1 medium mango (finely chopped)
¼ cup of sweet chilli sauce

1. Combine spinach, watercress, spring onions, onion, mango and sweet chilli sauce into a medium bowl and mix.
2. Blend until completely combined.

Tip: It is probably best to use a well-ripe mango as mine was only nearly there and I don't think the mango flavour came through as well as it should have.

I love mangetout, I've been on my own all day - boo.
I've managed to fill up my week apart from Tuesday and Thursday, what have I done? All the events for Malden Fortnight seem to be Methodist Church based, I'll also be missing out on the last two events which sound like they'll be quite good to photograph, there's nothing that I can do to help it. I'm already missing The Creators Project too, Gradball costs money so I have to go, plus I want to anyway.

Eeep, cute. Here is a suspicious Happy Hippo and his mate.
I think I can relax until Friday, mustn't get too lazy though, I'm going swimming tomorrow, having an 'I look pretty alright' day :)

Day 148.

Today was a day in which we had a nice roast dinner and I finally played around with my 35mm lens, which I've decided I love.

So it turns out that the new Reg (The Kraken Wakes) is a bit nicer than the old Reg but it comes at a bit of a price. I present to you, The Kraken Burger.
My reshoot this morning went well, photos are here.

The oven has been very useful today, I made this and these.
I am a mighty fine chef. ♥
Our kitchen floor has a lot of crumbs on it...

Day 45.

This is my obligatory pancake day photo, I made the pancakes from scratch and flipped them myself, I usually get Moon to do it but he was busy and doesn't really like pancakes, plus Lucy was around to help a bit anyway. They were tastier than anything you buy that comes from a packet or is already made - even if some were a bit messed up and way to thick and stodgy.
I can still only taste pancakes.

Happy Valentines Day and Happy Chinese New Year (Gung Hei Fat Choy!)
I celebrated my Valentines/New Year by heading down Gunwharf to check out the Chinese Year Year festivities. Krispy Kreme were doing 'limited edition' heart-shaped doughnuts, this was pretty good, it had cream and jam in the middle, the other 11 doughnuts that came in the box will probably be just as nice.
Moon and I had lunch at Giraffe, it was probably one of the best places we've been to to eat in a long time.
