I am published. The Village Voice did pull through in the end, so not only did I get paid but my photos are featured in such a way that they look pretty good too.
At the end of the photo page it says;

There is also a bit about a vet who took the photos of the dog show, but that isn't important because it's not about me. :)

So there is my stupid work, stupidly hung up.
I didn't stay for my 'crit' because I had been there since 10, already had two breaks and was being made to go back after lunch, which after sitting around for hours was only 40 minutes long anyway, and then I would have had to wait at least 15 minutes more when I went back. Forget that.
I think I did ok though, pretty much everyone put real effort in.

I'm out with coursies tonight, ha.

This is the sweet set up I had this afternoon to get my final prints done. Judging from the week's images so far, can you tell that I have a dreadline coming up?
I'm pretty much done now though, so today has been a productive day despite me starting it out as though I was going to get murdered. My article only needed a few basic tweaks and it now looks much better, the spread is mounted on sticky-back foam board (probably the best innovation of all time) and my final PDF is on a CD. Bring on finishing the RDB and having a relaxing weekend.

So, the InDesign for The Body unit is done, all that's left for this unit is the book work that's piled up whilst I've been working on the computer. I'm quite pleased with these, they should look quite good when I print them out on A3, that day isn't going to be a fun one. At least once all that's done, my work for my second year will only needed to be handed in and I'll be free for the summer. I hope to be toiling all day tomorrow, let's hope I can pull some motivation from somewhere...

Most of what I accomplished today occurred before 1pm, then I came home at 2 and was quite lazy.
I haven't been out dancing in ages, which saddens me.

I am happy with my shoot, this photo definitely won't make it into anything final but it's so funny.
I feel a bit more confident using the studio, I still might need a bit of help but at the moment, I'm pleased with what I got out of today anyway.

Semester Two got off to a blinding start today.
We are going to be looking at The Body in relation to editorial photography, which should be interesting, and - at least from my perspective - give us some real practical industry skills.
Our starting point is to get into groups and get a category - celebrity, health, fashion etc - and do a presentation on it for next week. We got health, which in some ways is really good because it's pretty straight forward and easy, but in other ways isn't that great as it's not something that everyone is interested in. Although, it's only a weeks worth of work, and will give us good insight, I'm sure the other presentations will be useful in helping me get to grips with what direction to go in for the final outcome of all this.
It seems like this unit will be a lot like the Foundation course though as it's 5 smaller projects as opposed to one huge one, even though it does all lead up to a larger outcome, I feel that it's a much more engaging way of working.
So, this was desk around an hour ago, I have fully analysed Men's Health as best I can ready to tackle the research questions we have to answer for the presentation, it's so alpha-male and the online version is even worse, but it is kind of funny that people eat it up every month. I've spent around £45 on this unit so far and it's not even fully underway, it's quite annoying how expensive medium format materials are.
