Day 272.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Today was spent in the same room from 10-5, with only an hour and half's worth of break.
This was in the canteen, I hate eating lunch there because the food is disappointing, I think I will utilise the lunchbox that Moon's brother bought me next Thursday.

Day 271.

Moon and Long made the weird decision to buy some long-johns, the arrived in the post today - Moon later said it's the worst £15 he ever spent. He also bought Muggs (man-Uggs), I'm kind of holding out for some kind of extraordinary Halloween costume.

Day 270.

This is a photo of the ring that came with the candles that Long and Moon bought to go with Chris' Hannah Montana cake. You can alternate your Disney Princesses should you so wish.
Today was Chris' 22nd birthday, so we went out for a meal at Giraffe - because we had vouchers, not because we're millionaires - and then went to see Scott Pilgrim vs The World. It was the second time around for me seeing Scott Pilgrim, I wanted to watch it again as soon as I came out of the cinema, and all the boys loved it, for some reason we were the only people in the cinema laughing...
Giraffe was nice, I had quesadillas, and told everyone how to say it properly, "kwes-a-de-ahs".

Day 269.

So, the new lens for my D90 came today, this is all I did with it, it's a photo into Moon's room at the other end of the house. I'm pretty impressed, but I only got it in case I needed it, for events and street photography I'm sure it will come in pretty handy, and as I'm now helping out Gigwise with any Portsmouth gigs, I'm sure it will be great in that situation too.
Excuse another 'camera face' photo.

Day 268.

First time I've worn jeans in a while, I was a lot more apprehensive of this than I think I needed to be. Phew.

Day 267.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Moon made us all a pretty nice chilli con carne tonight, I think I have to start thinking about taking self-portraits of myself rather than what I've been eating.

Day 266.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

This is Friday night out, I don't think we were wasted enough for the freshers, but at least I didn't spend much. This could be 'fridge material'.

Day 265.

Apologies for being very boring today, here is what our fridge looks like.
Only 100 days left to go!

Day 264.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Today was the Freshers' Fayre, I don't know why I was expecting anything impressive, it's the fourth time in a row I've been there.
I went there really wanting to sign up for something but then just didn't. It's weird that there's a Malaysian society and not a Chinese society, unless I wasn't looking properly, it was literally a hotbox in there.

Day 263.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

So, today was a bit of a rush and I think I narrowly avoided a hangover on top of everything else.
I was back into Uni today and they went over how thing are going to work this year, I'm literally in 6 hours (in one day) a week. I've decided I'm handing out a few flyers to get some models for the project, it calls for being at least a bit proactive. I just hope it works, I think I'll try emailing some more in a couple of days.

Day 258, 259, 260, 261 & 262.

So I've not had the internet for a bit and it's time to play a bit of catch-up, horrible, but quite easy and I'll feel better about doing it again when I'm back on track.

Day 258.
Moving Day, I haven't felt that overwhelmed in a long time, this isn't even a photo of everything, it's probably not even half. I hadn't really thought through how much smaller this place is in comparison to last years house.

Day 259.
Long went back to Bodmin to work but Chris, Moon and I went to Ikea to pick up a few things that the house was lacking. I like this photograph so much, I printed it out and stuck it to the fridge.

Day 260.
This is a photo of the kind of set up I currently have in my room, it's getting comfier by the day and I think I'm beginning to feel more like I live here.

Day 261.
I'm not going to lie, this is probably one of the worst photos I've ever taken, and probably the last I will take with my D60. It's out of focus and so lazily composed, but it is pretty much a sum of how I spent Sunday.

Day 262.
© Ruth Johnston 2010.
So we went to Babylon last night and it was packed, the night didn't end quite as I'd have hoped it to, but I think I still had an alright time. I slipped on the wet floor though - not from being drunk, just because the floor was so wet from spilled drinks, honestly, Freshers are horrible.

Day 257.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I'm going to be without internet for a few days now as I'm moving down to Portsmouth and Virgin can't sort themselves out until Monday, so I expect a large pot will be in order. At least I have this sweet TV to keep me company and I've loaded myself up with some awesome films. I'm so excited to move down and get myself together.

Day 256.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I promise I'll be a bit more interesting when I have things to do. Everything's a bit slow before the move on Thursday.
My mum got me this box of noodles for uni today, plus a few other yummy things.

Day 255.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

This is is a wicked-hot seafood medley I made for my sister and I, I served it with tagliatelle, it was so good.
I think I put too many chillies in it, but otherwise, I astonished myself. Om nom nom.

Day 254.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I am back in New Malden until Thursday.
It's only just dawned on me how 'not that far away' it is, so I've set out clothes for the next four days and packed up the rest, my underwear fills that red suitcase. I think I have too many things.

Saturday, 11 September 2010

Day 253.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

When I returned from Moon's house this afternoon, my sister was there and she was having her hair dyed blue.
From experience, I know it goes a horrible colour, even with all the will in the world. It looks alright now, but it a few days it won't, not that that really matters because it's only hair and it can be re-dyed or cut out anyway.

Day 252.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

So, it turns out Moon failed his driving test for the third time, it's not too big a deal but it must be pretty frustrating. It took quite a while to calm him down about it too. These are some mushrooms that were on our way from the station to his house, they were pretty big.

Day 251.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

This is another accessory for the pink kitchen, my Auntie Mandy picked it up for me, it's the second mug I've been given this summer as a gift. I wonder if people are trying to tell me something....
It's pretty huge anyway, may put some kind of pretty plant in it.

Day 250.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I feel disgusting today. EUGH.
I have a horrible cold and can't even think about breathing through my nose, I'm boiling hot too. My damn immune system has got to pot, I think that horrid cough is to blame as the doctor said the 'steroid inhaler' might lower my immunities. But maybe, I just shouldn't have slept with the window open two nights ago.

Day 249.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

So, yesterday I decided that I was going to give up biting my nails.
My hands have been pretty rank for a long time and it's not like I don't know it, it was meant to be one of my New Year's Resolutions and it nearly always is. I figured yesterday was as good a day as any to just stop. I must admit, it is kind of nice to have white bits, even if they are tiny. I haven't bitten them at all today, I'm kind of proud of myself, I've never got past a week each time I've tried but I feel pretty determined this time. Wish me luck!

Day 248.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Today has been a bit rainy and horrible, Moon made me some soup, I kept eating the carrots because it's something he always does when I'm cooking. He even sometimes eats the ham when I'm making a sandwich, meanie.

Day 247.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Without meaning to be too kitchen/food orientated, here is what I bought for dinner.. Domino's pizza! I've literally done nothing worth talking about and Moon left my house before 9 o'clock this morning.
I am poor for the duration of summer now, I'm not trusting myself to go anywhere where there are good shops and am only paying for stuff I have to pay for, such as the deposit on my house, my share of the internet bill and the TV license.
I will be treating myself to an Ikea trip the day after I move down but if I save up, I should be fine. Also, my loan will be in that following Monday so I can happily pay my savings back quickly without feeling too guilty. I'm so glad I have a credit card with a £6 minimum repayment.
I ordered the pizza before I checked my bank statement, so I felt like an absolute fool. Now I've put it down in writing I have to stick to it.

Day 246.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

This is a plug for a sink that Moon was going to buy me for my birthday but couldn't because they sold out.
They had more in stock today so I bought one, I got it in pink so it matches our kitchen, it's so cute, Moon paid for it too as it was only £1.49, I'm so impressed.
I could live in the Steamer Trading Cook Shop if I were a billionaire and had a need for an apple slicer, thousands of different kinds of blender or dish brushes where the bristles are hair.

Day 245.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Today I was in the mood for trying out new recipes.
I made an awesome chilli marinade that goes all gooey when it heats up, some rocky road and this mango and watercress salsa which went amazing with some chicken in the chilli marinade. I'm so proud of myself, I have to go buy a jar for this tomorrow so it keeps well, there's too much of it to keep eating everyday it's going to last ages.

Ingredients;
60g of finely shredded spinach
60g of watercress
2 spring onions (finely chopped)
½ medium onion (finely chopped)
1 medium mango (finely chopped)
¼ cup of sweet chilli sauce

1. Combine spinach, watercress, spring onions, onion, mango and sweet chilli sauce into a medium bowl and mix.
2. Blend until completely combined.

Tip: It is probably best to use a well-ripe mango as mine was only nearly there and I don't think the mango flavour came through as well as it should have.

Day 244.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

By the time it got to the end of this afternoon, I had some how winded up updating my website, something I've been putting off for a couple of months. I've now added all my University projects on there, and just have a general gallery to go - I'll probably avoid that for a while too...

I am very happy, I am reunited with Moon.
