Throwing in the towel.

I've been very inconsistant lately, and I think it's time that I give up.
I know I'm so close that I can see the finish line but lasting this amount of time is much more admirable than most other 365's that I've seen. So this is my last photo. It's from today and I know I've missed a few days but when I'm quitting, it doesn't matter that much.

I think this has served its purpose; I'm taking more photos, but I think if I were to do it again, I should pick a theme, what I have taken here is a quite an interesting diaristic set, but it does somewhat lack consistency. Although, maybe this has affected how I work in the real world and I've been able to develop more of style.
Sorry I gave up, but I'm so stressed right now and I really did give it a good try.

Day 338.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I've not been on top form this week, today was practically missed out, despite thinking about it for most of the day. This is the laundry because the laundry gets ready for Mondays on Sunday nights.

Day 337.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

The weekend's promised mild weather and rain has meant that all the snow is now gone with the only reminder is the smaller version of our 'once majestic' snowman. Moon fixed it but I think he will be basically gone tomorrow.

Day 336.

I attempted some project reading for the practical brief. It was quite easy, once I made myself cosy and put my feet against the radiator in the lounge, the whole house was freezing, even with the heating on, but this helped my concentration.

Day 335.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

So, it snowed loads over night and we're in the middle of a Whitemare as we were when I began the Project 365.
Moon and I built a small snowman in the garden, I've pretty much taken an excuse to be snowed in, it's pretty dangerous to walk out there.

Wednesday, 1 December 2010

Day 334.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

It's the 1st of December, so that' means the 'student' tree goes up and I can finally start feeling like it's Christmas, I'm fulling embracing the childish excitement I should be feeling. I've already watched A Muppet's Christmas Carol tonight. I want to to watch it at least 5 times before Christmas, it's my absolute favourite Christmas film - it's One Show Giles' too :).

Tuesday, 30 November 2010

Day 333.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I'm feeling quite inspired today, but I'm not really sure what I would use this for, so it's going here.
I think it's because of finally getting my half-Chinese portrait taken.

Monday, 29 November 2010

Day 332.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

It's so freezing! This is from my walk to meet Moon, I like that my shadow is now that of a bear, thanks to my Merrimaking hood.

Sunday, 28 November 2010

Day 331.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

It snowed today for about a minute, that was very anti-climatic, it's obviously too cold! :(

Saturday, 27 November 2010

Day 330.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I decided I'm going to start using film a bit more again.

Friday, 26 November 2010

Day 329.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

The boiler broke for the second time in two days yesterday; when I went into Moon's room to see him this morning this is how he was sat. So lovely.

Thursday, 25 November 2010

Day 328.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

So, I've been playing around with layouts a bit for the half-Chinese project. I feel it wrapping up but I don't know how to finish off the research.

Wednesday, 24 November 2010

Day 327.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Oh the joys of walking to a tutorial after 3pm in November, it's nearly dark and then completely dark on the way back, so safe. Wasn't helpful either, I should have brought in what I printed off, she didn't print it off, now I'm bringing it to her tomorrow and she's going to post it back... I sense something a bit risky about this, perhaps more risky than the fact I walked home in the dark. It was darker in real life than it was in the photo, not to mention freezing - this is on the way there, Eldon was so boiling though that I was only just starting to be cold again by the time I got home.

Tuesday, 23 November 2010

Day 326.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Today flew by, and I'm not even really sure I did anything.
I did go and meet Gabriella for lunch though and that was nice, and I sorted through my Paris photos. I've got to get my head together. There isn't that long until we break up for Christmas.

Monday, 22 November 2010

Day 325.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Back in England. It's good to be home, but I've had a great time and it's been a good, if not short and small, life experience. I now know that if I can say, "no" to the street urchins of Paris, I can say no to anyone.

Sunday, 21 November 2010

Day 324.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Disneyland! And it brought back so many Florida memories, it was so nice, it would have been better if it weren't so busy but it was so pretty and the general atmosphere was so much less stressful than Paris.

Saturday, 20 November 2010

Day 323.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Today it wasn't misty so we went up the Eiffel Tower and here is the view from the second floor, firstly the top was pretty high, and secondly the queue was massive so we didn't go.
It was Paris Photo today, it was a pretty interesting experience but it was to hot inside compared to how cold it was outside, making for a pretty uncomfortable experience. I liked the Japanese work the best.

Friday, 19 November 2010

Day 322.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

So we're in Paris. This was taken at around 4pm, so it took nearly 10 hours to get organised from Portsmouth to Paris, but it was actually quite an easy journey. I saw the Eiffel Tower for the first time today, despite being to Paris at least twice.

Thursday, 18 November 2010

Day 321.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Dissertation draft, done, printed off, ready to be handed in next Wednesday, no worries for Paris.

Wednesday, 17 November 2010

Day 320.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

So, Abbie and I met up a did some vague planning, and I'm so excited today that I started kind of packing, even though there's still a full day left. Ahhh!

Tuesday, 16 November 2010

Day 319.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I've pretty much slogged my guts out today and haven't left the house. I've really got on with my dissertation, I'm so happy.

Monday, 15 November 2010

Day 318.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I tried really hard get things done today and only some of it worked.
I succeeded in actually providing myself with some retail therapy though - everything is Christmas in town at the moment, eek!

Sunday, 14 November 2010

Day 317.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

As Richard's still down, we went out last night. I had already fallen on Friday night and severely messed up my hand, it still hurts now actually. But I made Moon promise me that he wouldn't let me fall; before I'm even drunk or near Babylon, I trip over the curb and because of my sore hand I have to essentially fall flat on my face, this is the result. Ow!

Saturday, 13 November 2010

Day 316.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

So my sister visited today with my Uncle David, Auntie Mandy and cousin Louise. We had a nice afternoon, they took me out for lunch at Giraffe, where I had a sushi rice salad, I'll be honest with you, it wasn't great.
I took this mug though, my aunt had a coffee and look how nice it is, as I'm ever getting my own coffee at Giraffe, now I can have tea in it all time. I think I need to stop nicking beverage containers, this is my second one so far this school year!
Apologies for the 'camera-phone like' quality, I don't know what's going on there.

Friday, 12 November 2010

Day 315.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I've finally finished the first chapter of my dissertation - thought I'd show off how thick the peanut butter cheescake was, it will probably all be finished by tomorrow because everyone loves it I've got to let my sister try some when she comes down.
I'm going out tonight for what feels like the first time in ages, at least I've earned it - based on today anyway

Thursday, 11 November 2010

Day 314.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Photo of my lunch again. I was hungry for ages afterwards, and both the texture and taste were horrid. Winter Veg broth, never again, Heinz.

Wednesday, 10 November 2010

Day 313.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Yet another massive case of avoiding work, I saw someone had finished their dissertation and it made my stomach sink.
BUT I did make this today, so I can always become some kind of cheesecake wonder if this degree thing doesn't work out.
YES, this is a peanut butter cheesecake, with a brownie base. ♥

Tuesday, 9 November 2010

Day 312.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I've rearranged my room, I felt like I was being productive, but I really wasn't. I have cleaned the whole house in order to be prepared for my Uncle David's visit on Saturday but, I did minimal work, unless literally skimming a book counts...

Monday, 8 November 2010

Day 311.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I think this is what making 'headway' with your dissertation does to you. Go Liberia!
I'm just over 1/10 in, woop.

Sunday, 7 November 2010

Day 309.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I've studied a bit today and been a bit lazy, I'm ready to tackle my dissertation some more tomorrow.
I feel bad that there are some many people on my course that are already 6,000 words in but I guess at least it all depends on the way individuals work. I think I might really have to knuckle down now.

Saturday, 6 November 2010

Day 308.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Moon's mum visited today, we did lots of walking.
Portsmouth must seem quite nice to people who don't live here all the time.

Friday, 5 November 2010

Day 307.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Remember, remember, the 5th of November.
I love sparklers, I kind of wish that we'd got our own fireworks again because I could hardly seen any from our garden, or out the front.

Thursday, 4 November 2010

Day 306.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

These people made me depressed as hell, after a long morning and most of afternoon at Uni, I had to follow them on the way home. They couldn't look after there oldest son because they've already had two other children, and this is somehow his fault. Does he even stand a chance?

Wednesday, 3 November 2010

Day 305.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Eeep! I love this week, there are fireworks everywhere.
Tonight, we headed over to Cosham to watch the fireworks, they weren't great but only because there weren't enough massive ones. I liked the fire, even though it just looked like someone had just set a pile alight rather than an organised bonfire.
We couldn't get any sparklers going though....

Tuesday, 2 November 2010

Day 304

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I'm still pushing through, I've read a lot, but not written much more, I'm quite nervous as to whether I've done enough for my tutorial tomorrow. :\

Monday, 1 November 2010

Day 303.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I completely forgot about 365 yesterday, so here are two photos from today - I tried to start my dissertation today, it's made me very sad but at least I have a layout and something down.

Sunday, 31 October 2010

Day 302.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Halloween!
I'm meant to be a bat, and no one questioned it, even I don't think I look like one, so I just put fake blood everywhere in the end.
I couldn't put in teeth because i only have 4 front teeth, I liked everyone else's costumes though. It was quite fun, even if the DJ at Highlight is a bit lazy.

Friday, 29 October 2010

Day 301.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I promised Moon that he could buy pumpkins for Halloween today, so he let Long come back with a marrow, it isn't as bad as I thought and it does actually work, I'm quite impressed that it even stands up, but I still think it was unfair.
Pumpkin carving is so hard, I don't know why anyone does it, I did turnips when I was little, I think they must be easier to do, or at least smaller. I'm disappointed with these pumpkins too because there wasn't enough flesh in them to make anything with. I was looking forward to making pumpkin pie.

Thursday, 28 October 2010

Day 300.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Wow, only 65 days left, I'm kind of relieved actually, don't think I've done as well at this as I wanted to.
Today meant a bit of a skive and a trip to Brighton, everything about there is better than Portsmouth. This is the wall of the changing room at Ju-Ju, a shop that I like the look of but never buy anything from. It deserves a visit just for it's zebra-print exterior.

Wednesday, 27 October 2010

Day 299.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

My sister is here! My tutorial went well, but not as well as I'd hoped.
There really is very little to do in Portsmouth, but there are enough places to eat!

Tuesday, 26 October 2010

Day 298.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I'm handing in the towel with work for the next week, so I can spend time with my sister.
These are fake, my real 'stop biting my nails' challenge is failing, but I am biting them less than usual...

Monday, 25 October 2010

Day 297.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I'm so pleased with myself. I'm bang up to date with all of the work for my half-Chinese project, now all I need to do is get onto the same level with my dissertation, I think it will be best to put a day aside next week as whole of this week after Wednesday is full, you'll see.

Sunday, 24 October 2010

Day 296.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I am so tired from the past three days, I'm massively procrastinating this evening too. So much to do!!!

Saturday, 23 October 2010

Day 295.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

So, the bed's back, but I haven't taken a photo like this in a while.

Friday, 22 October 2010

Day 294.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

This is Rishi Ghosh, he's half-Chinese, half-Indian, a pretty interesting mix. He's an actor who lives in London, he said he might bring his younger sister over to help out with my project which would be cool. I thought I'd put this un-edited version on as I'm so happy the lighting is finally working properly.

Thursday, 21 October 2010

Day 293.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

The tutorial ended up going really well, I'm pretty pleased. I'm also more up to date with everything than I thought I was - this is a photo of my sketchbook. I copped up on the text a bit though.

Wednesday, 20 October 2010

Day 292.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

So, I'm kind of stressing about all my images for my tutorial tomorrow being the same and 'good enough' to be put onto the wall. I don't even know what I'm going to say :\

Tuesday, 19 October 2010

Day 291.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

So peeved with Bonus Print right now, not only does my printer print better than theirs - which it shouldn't because photograph printing is their business - but, their the wrong size and took until today to get to me, when I ordered them last week. Poor service, never using them again, I could have saved hassle and just used my own ink, think I'll bear that in mind for next time, I don't think it matters that I'll use paper because that was cheaper than asking Bonus Print to do it anyway. They are wank.
I'm also annoyed because I was going to post them off straight away but the guy for my shoot didn't turn up until half-past 5, I couldn't really be angry though because he was doing me a favour and it's not like he was in Portsmouth to see me. It went well anyway, despite him literally being a total stranger with no mutual friends between us. It's definitely easier because we have this common half-Chinese ground.

Monday, 18 October 2010

Day 290.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I'm finding that Monday night seems to be bath-night now, I'm not sure if it's because I have some pretty nice bubble bath, or because the bath is the perfect size, but it's working out pretty well. This is tonight's green bath, it was green thanks to a lovely LUSH avocado and lemon bath bomb. Mmmm.
