Day 210.

Moon won yet more tickets, this time to the iTunes Festival to see Biffy Clyro.
We had dim sum, it was delicious, I was so full all the way from Leicester Square to Chalk Farm that I didn't speak, we waited in line for over 2 hours because didn't plan the day well enough, but it was quite a fun gig anyway. It's the second 'free gig' I've seen them at within the year, Moon and I are clearly favoured by the iTunes people.

I wish I was there, but watching a live stream on a TV this size is kind of like I am. I can't believe how big Mumford and Sons are right now, they're everywhere. I love it, I even know all their names, I don't even know all of The Maccabees names yet.

So, O2 Wireless was today, and I don't think it's because Glastonbury was only last week that I didn't enjoy it, generally it was pretty boring and there really wasn't a lot to do, they tried to make out as if there was but there wasn't. The whole 'festival' consists of a huge main stage and 3 tiny tents with other music, the rest of it is just food stalls and a couple of merch stands. There were some vague Superdrug and Ugg stuff, but overall it was pretty dull. The music I wanted to see, I liked, but considering no one really appreciated anyone except Jay-Z, the whole thing kind of lacked atmosphere. Thank God for Lily Allen, who stopped the bottle throwing, the full bottle throwing, the piss filled bottle throwing...
I don't think I'll be going again, but I'm glad I saw Lily Allen, now that she's 'quit music' for a bit, and I really enjoyed Jay-Z and Slash in any case. The whole situation wasn't helped by being filthy from the moment I stepped through the gate, they should really do something about that.

Saw The Maccabees for the third time this evening at the NME Awards Tour at Portsmouth Pyramids, they were lovely/amazing as usual and the other bands weren't bad either. I wasn't too keen on Bombay Bicycle Club, mainly because not only did all their songs sound the same but despite being adored by the crowd, no one seemed to know the words and due to all the songs sounding the same the 'singing along' was 'duh duh duh duh duh' constantly.
The other two bands at the gig were The Drums and The Big Pink, both of which really surprised me as they sounded completely different, but better, to how they sound on their albums.
I am a bit squished, which is shameful due to the average age of the crowd, but I have a new t-shirt and got my obligatory Orlando Weeks smile, all in all tonight was mainly what I anticipated it to be. Now to sleep.

"Considering the amount of people here and the amount of bottles thrown onto the stage, what are you guys, fucking lightweights?

Original date for Jamie T gig: October 2nd 2009 (just so it's never forgotten as to how patient I was.)
Put it this way, this is the best gig I've been to this year, which I guess isn't a great feat because it's the only one so far - I'll do a proper review on my proper blog tomorrow morning.
It's the gig I got the most beer poured on me at, a whole bottle went down my back as well as other beer splashing in other places.
Jamie T was good. his fans, not so much, but it was a great way to spend an evening, even if I smelt terrible when I came in and my feet hurt heaps from standing around for so long. I do like this photograph though, just because it emphasises how many dickheads were in the audience and will make me remember how Jamie T laughed at them.

The whole of my gig experience consisted of a guy shouting, "Put on the shirt!" in between every song, as he'd thrown a Southampton Saints football shirt at the stage, I doubt Jamie T is deaf, everyone else could hear him and he's still a moron. All respect would have been lost of Jamie T had he put the shirt on, so I am very glad that he didn't.

It's weird liking a musician like Jamie T because so many chavs like him - I heard a guy on the way back to the station say, "He's just in some shit indie band now, he doesn't even rap anymore..."
He's always been in an indie band, but he does still rap.
