Day 269.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

So, the new lens for my D90 came today, this is all I did with it, it's a photo into Moon's room at the other end of the house. I'm pretty impressed, but I only got it in case I needed it, for events and street photography I'm sure it will come in pretty handy, and as I'm now helping out Gigwise with any Portsmouth gigs, I'm sure it will be great in that situation too.
Excuse another 'camera face' photo.

Eeep, so my mum found me this Fuji Instax camera, and I bought the film and was only waiting on the batteries, which arrived today. I'm very impressed with it, I'm packing in my Polaroid 600, to be fair, Polaroid themselves gave it up with some dignity, and it's time to move on.

Day 203.

Today I went to Kew Gardens, it was hot and nice.
I am very pleased with the performance my SLR has put on today. I'm so glad I have nothing to do tomorrow.

Day 109.

I am exceedingly happy with the postman today.
I got both my new cameras, my G10 and a new Diana F+ to replace the one that Moon smashed on Sunday.
I got a sweet hood from Merrimaking.co.uk.
My new 35mm lens came for my SLR, it's pretty nice, it will be awesome to go right up to people and get all in their face, as it's a fixed lens, I won't have a choice in many cases. It's teeny tiny in comparison to my 18-105mm though, doesn't matter though I should be encouraged to 'get in there'.
And finally I also got the new issue of Vice, which is always a delight to read, and there are a lot of interesting stories in this months, as well as great pictures.
My photograph from the modelling I did yesterday is on Facebook, my skin looks great, lighting can work wonders, I'll post it on my regular blog in a minute.

This was taken on my G10, my feet have hurt so much today, I've honestly not done much else of worth, should have taken a photo of my battered and blistered feet but I know the kind of people that kind of stuff attracts.

Day 99.

I am back in Portsmouth again after what feels like an all too short two weeks at home.
I arrived to my delivered ringlight, which after a stock up in Asda - for both food and batteries, I tried out, it's not what I expected, but I think I could do some quite interesting things with it.
I know it's another photograph of Moon, I also realise it's a pretty bad one, I kind of like it though, reminds me slightly of Terry Richardson.
Am I looking forward to a new term?

Day 24.

This was taken in Frankie & Bennie's in Gunwharf, I don't think I ever want to go back there again, our food was basically cold. Their banana cheesecake was pretty delicious, but I'd rather make my own than go back there. We did have a voucher though, so at least we weren't ripped off.
So, Moon has finished his exams and we celebrated with an ok lunch and a screening of AVATAR, which he hadn't seen yet, I think it overshadowed the lunch, but it wasn't the best food I've ever had anyway, and AVATAR is a pretty amazing movie.

Day 17.

This is my 'photography box', it's where I keep most items that aren't in constant use, like my 35mm SLR, film, darkroom paper and polaroid stuff. I should probably take a couple of rolls of film on my SLR and develop them before the break is over. As I made the effort to tidy the box up yesterday, I think I should ruin it sufficiently to feel like I've achieved something.
It's not that I was running out of steam today, I was just feeling pretty lazy, I didn't get up as early as I wanted to and didn't get going to do what I wanted to do. Sorry this image isn't of vast photographic interest, but it is better than some of the images featured in the 'Document This...' exhibition, say what?!
