Day 312.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I've rearranged my room, I felt like I was being productive, but I really wasn't. I have cleaned the whole house in order to be prepared for my Uncle David's visit on Saturday but, I did minimal work, unless literally skimming a book counts...

Day 273.

This is to commemorate the Southsea dinosaur that burnt down at 2:40am this morning, I never even got to see it, someone rubbish must have done it. Turkey dinosaurs are not as nice as I remember.

Day 267.

Moon made us all a pretty nice chilli con carne tonight, I think I have to start thinking about taking self-portraits of myself rather than what I've been eating.

Day 256.

I promise I'll be a bit more interesting when I have things to do. Everything's a bit slow before the move on Thursday.
My mum got me this box of noodles for uni today, plus a few other yummy things.

Day 252.

So, it turns out Moon failed his driving test for the third time, it's not too big a deal but it must be pretty frustrating. It took quite a while to calm him down about it too. These are some mushrooms that were on our way from the station to his house, they were pretty big.

Day 247.

Without meaning to be too kitchen/food orientated, here is what I bought for dinner.. Domino's pizza! I've literally done nothing worth talking about and Moon left my house before 9 o'clock this morning.
I am poor for the duration of summer now, I'm not trusting myself to go anywhere where there are good shops and am only paying for stuff I have to pay for, such as the deposit on my house, my share of the internet bill and the TV license.
I will be treating myself to an Ikea trip the day after I move down but if I save up, I should be fine. Also, my loan will be in that following Monday so I can happily pay my savings back quickly without feeling too guilty. I'm so glad I have a credit card with a £6 minimum repayment.
I ordered the pizza before I checked my bank statement, so I felt like an absolute fool. Now I've put it down in writing I have to stick to it.

Day 245.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Today I was in the mood for trying out new recipes.
I made an awesome chilli marinade that goes all gooey when it heats up, some rocky road and this mango and watercress salsa which went amazing with some chicken in the chilli marinade. I'm so proud of myself, I have to go buy a jar for this tomorrow so it keeps well, there's too much of it to keep eating everyday it's going to last ages.

Ingredients;
60g of finely shredded spinach
60g of watercress
2 spring onions (finely chopped)
½ medium onion (finely chopped)
1 medium mango (finely chopped)
¼ cup of sweet chilli sauce

1. Combine spinach, watercress, spring onions, onion, mango and sweet chilli sauce into a medium bowl and mix.
2. Blend until completely combined.

Tip: It is probably best to use a well-ripe mango as mine was only nearly there and I don't think the mango flavour came through as well as it should have.

Uff, I'm so bored. I made/ate my first ever risotto today, it was quite nice, but I don't think I actually like the risotto rice too much, it's a bit dense.

Day 211.

My sister, my Gran and I had a barbecue in the garden, it's the first time I've been allowed anywhere near a barbecue to cook anything in over 3 years - men - it was delish, wasn't sure I'd get it right but I did. Was amazing too because it was the first thing I'd eaten since having dim sum yesterday, om nom nom. Moon was invited but he is poo.

Day 205.

So I was out for my friend Lucy's birthday tonight, one annoying thing about having to take trains everywhere is having no choice on how long to stay and when to go home, needless to say, I am home early, but I had a really nice time.
We went to the AllStar Lanes, Bayswater and played a game of bowling - of which I lost - and then went on to have a delicious meal followed by this cake. I think they went on to karaoke, which I wish I could have done, but I had to leave at 10 for fear of not actually knowing how to get home - but when I got to Wimbledon, I feel as though this was a con, oh well it doesn't really matter, it was still a fun evening.

Day 187.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

I love mangetout, I've been on my own all day - boo.
I've managed to fill up my week apart from Tuesday and Thursday, what have I done? All the events for Malden Fortnight seem to be Methodist Church based, I'll also be missing out on the last two events which sound like they'll be quite good to photograph, there's nothing that I can do to help it. I'm already missing The Creators Project too, Gradball costs money so I have to go, plus I want to anyway.

Day 184.

Eeep, cute. Here is a suspicious Happy Hippo and his mate.
I think I can relax until Friday, mustn't get too lazy though, I'm going swimming tomorrow, having an 'I look pretty alright' day :)

Day 168.

Mmmmm, what another dull day it has been. I don't really like being on my own all day, but when there are people around, I kind of like the option.

Day 166.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Today has gone by pretty quickly, I don't know where it's gone, unusual for the summer holidays.
My sister finished her GCSE exams today so we went out for dinner to celebrate a little, we'll be celebrating again when my Mum's not working on Sunday. But Lucy was desperate to show me how The Glasshouse rolled, pretty pricey but nice enough as it happens.

Day 154.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

My sister is down for the night as Moon is away getting his Rage Against The Machine tickets at home. In any case his exams are over so it wouldn't have mattered. I treated her to a tasty lunch at Giraffe. I finally ordered a dish I had seen irl, but not on the menu, it was as good as anticipated, but a bit filling. We've had an alright day, I'm knackered now though, what with all the walking I've done in the past few days. I think I will have a well deserved sleep later.

Day 149.

Today has been a bit of a day for cooking, I should have got myself to the gym, but instead I have basically just eaten and eaten. Bleugh.

Day 148.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

Today was a day in which we had a nice roast dinner and I finally played around with my 35mm lens, which I've decided I love.

Day 141.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

This is our garden, featuring barbecues.
I like this one, I've tried not to resize it so when you click on it you can get the full-feel that you can't get from the tininess of yesterday's panorama, but I think Photobucket resizes bigger photos -poo.
The barbecue was fun, even if it was more of a stop-in lunch rather than a laze-all-day. I have even more silly tan lines, I don't know what I'm going to do about them.
It was so hot in the garden, there was hardly any wind, I am suspicious of what temperature the weathermen are saying.

Friday, 21 May 2010

Day 139.

© Ruth Johnston 2010.

My sister came down for the day today and we went to Southampton.
This was taken at the worst Chinese restaurant, ever, where I both got ripped off and felt jippy. Bleugh.
It was nice to have Lucy down though, i am just waiting on her phone call to tell me that she's home safe.
